Employee Screening Procedure

• APPLICATION: An extensive application is completed by each employee. Including appropriate licenses and verifications, past educational and work history, previous employment references, drug screening, WATCH criminal background check, National criminal background check, OIG, OFAC, EPLS, National sexual offender search and Washington state sexual offender search.

• TESTING: Employees are tested according to their area of expertise. In the case of an employee that is specialized to work in a highly specialty area he/she will not be tested. Emerald City Medical Staffing, Inc will require them to provide a resume to explain and show his/her work history and experience at which we would then verify.

• MANDATORY SERVICES: An annual review of OSHA, Blood borne pathogens, HIPAA and all other JCAHO standards are required by each employee.

• HEALTH/TB TEST: A current copy of a satisfactory physical examination is required. TB/PPD skin test with results current within the last 12 months. Hepatitis B, MMR and Varicella records will be included in each personnel file and can be requested by client for reference at any time.

• LICENSE VERIFICATION: The employee’s license/certifications are verified at time of hire and annually at renewal, copies are kept in his/her personnel file in the office.

• SKILLS CHECKLIST: Each employee must complete a comprehensive skills inventory that is kept in the personnel file in the office and is updated annually. In the case of an employee that is specialized to work in a highly specialty area this may not be necessary or a skill list for his/her area will be provided.

• REFERENCES: At least two references verifying work experience in clinical areas are required for employment. Employees are not allowed to work in the field until their experience has been verified.

• CERTIFICATION: A current Health Care Provider CPR card is required on all employees. Other certifications such as ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC, CEN, NRP, etc. as required are kept in the personnel file of each employee.

• EVALUATION: Evaluations of Emerald City Medical Staffing, Inc employees are completed on an annual basis. All evaluations that are completed and received by the supervisory staff of the client/facility are reviewed by our Nursing Director.

• EMPLOYEE FILES: A complete and current file is kept on all employees, including everything noted above. Employee’s file also includes appropriate documentation relative to the applicant’s identity and work authorization as required by Homeland Security’s requirements. Included we complete an E-verify check.

• INTERVIEWING: All prospective employees are interviewed by the branch personnel. During the interview, emphasis is placed upon work history, clinical expertise and review of the references. At this time, information and performance requirements are given to the applicant regarding Emerald City Medical Staffing, Inc policies and procedures.

• PLACEMENT AND ORIENTATION: Assignment of all medical professionals are made by our branch personnel according to the skill and expertise of the employee and the needs of the client. Emphasis is placed on continuity of service whenever possible. Orientation policies and procedures of all clients and facilities’ are adhered to by Emerald City Medical Staffing, Inc.

• CONTINUING EDUCATION: All Emerald City Medical Staffing, Inc medical professionals are encouraged to participate in on-going educational courses. Emerald City Medical Staffing, Inc work with each client/facility to provide on-going orientation as needed and/or requested.
